1. Overview

2. Definitions

Defined terms in this Policy have the following meaning:
  • Prohibited Products refers to products that are prohibited by law or regulations, or are otherwise not permitted for sale on TikTok Shop.
  • Seller refers to a third-party trader on TikTok Shop.
  • Unsupported Products refers to products that are not currently permitted for sale on TikTok Shop.

3. Prohibited and Unsupported Products

  • Sellers are not permitted to sell the products listed in this section on TikTok Shop.

3.1. Adult Products and Services (Prohibited)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Goods or services designed for adult/sexual activities, including any product or service that appears to be designed for use in adult/sexual activity;
    • Sex toys and games;
    • Lifelike or realistic sex dolls;
    • Sex toys that replicate a sexual organ attached to any replica human body or replica human body part (such as legs, hips, torsos or heads);
    • Erotic clothing;
    • Erotic wellness and massage;
    • Bondage gear/accessories;
    • Fetish wear, sex furnishing, sexual enhancers, or any other adult products depicting or suggesting sexual activity;
    • Dating, sexual contact, or escort/prostitution services (including in-person or online services);
    • Sexual wellness items (e.g contraceptives, lubricants and other similar products);
    • Sexually explicit content, such as adult video games and films with a rating of X, XXX, R18, or unrated content for an adults-only audience, as well as sexually explicit anime, comics, books, animation, manga, hentai or yaoi;
    • Sexually explicit content depicting minors; and
    • Sexually explicit content depicting violent, non-consensual or illegal acts.

3.2. Alcoholic Products (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Alcohol and alcoholic beverages, including sprits, wines and beers;
    • Low alcoholic drinks;
    • Chocolate liqueurs; and
    • Alcoholic drink-making kits, such as kits that result in the production of beer, wine or gin.
  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Live animals, livestock and pets, including insects, shellfish and fish;
    • Animal parts and products made from (i) endangered or threatened species, (ii) animals listed on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ("CITES"), and (iii) animals protected or prohibited for sale pursuant to other applicable legislation, including but not limited to ivory products and (exotic) skins, products that are harmful to health, and the environment;
    • Real animal fur;
    • Products intended for hunting and/or trapping animals, including but not limited to traps and glue traps for mice and rats;
    • Equipment or tools that are potentially harmful to animals or humans, including but not limited to electronic fish-killing devices, and other equipment for hunting and killing fish and aquatic organisms;
    • Cockfighting "slasher" knives;
    • Prong collars and other collars which have inward-facing spikes, electrostatic dog collars, including training and containment systems, choke chains or choke collars; and
    • Products or media which promote, contain, may be associated with, facilitate, enable or encourage animal abuse or negligence.

3.4. Baby and Maternity Products (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Breast pumps and other specialised maternity/nursing equipment;
    • Plastic baby bottles with BPA;
    • Maternity vitamins and supplements;
    • Baby vitamins and supplements;
    • Pre-packaged baby food for infants under 4 months old
    • Baby formula (including powder and liquid), and food additives; and

3.5. Bladed products (Prohibited)

  • Any article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, including but not limited to:
    • Knives;
    • Knife blades;
    • Razor blades;
    • Kitchen knives;
    • Steak knives;
    • Stanley knives;
    • Craft knives;
    • Scissors;
    • Carpet knives;
    • Sharp bladed gardening tools, including sickles, secateurs and pliers; and
    • Other sharply pointed tools, including chisels, drill bits and pointed screwdrivers.
  • Axes and saws.
  • This does not include non-pointed and non-sharp metal or plastic knives found in cutlery sets, or plastic, non-sharp scissors.

3.6. Cultural Property/Objects and Archaeological Items (Prohibited)

  • (Imagery of) any cultural property/object indicated by local governments as being required to meet certain legal formalities and/or reporting requirements in order to be sold.
  • Archaeological items that are indicated by local governments as prohibited for sale, including but not limited to coins, buttons, vases, thimbles and stones.

3.7. Discriminatory and Offensive Products (Prohibited)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Products that promote, incite or glorify hatred, intolerance, and violence;
    • Products that promote discrimination against people based on their personal characteristics such as race (including those containing racially derogatory language), ethnicity, skin color, citizenship, immigration status, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, marital status, disability, or medical or genetic condition;
    • Products related to propaganda materials from unconstitutional organizations, as well as the use of symbols associated with such groups, such as those related to the Nazi regime;
    • Products that are considered to be inappropriate according to certain local cultures or social conventions (e.g. religious or political-related elements);
    • Products related to or promoting or encouraging any form of terrorism or terrorist organization;
    • Products that promote or encourage any form of hate, crime, prejudice, rebellion or violence;
    • Products containing violent or offensive material;
    • Products that promote or glorify suicide and/or self-harm;
    • Products that promote or glorify eating disorders;
    • Products that promote or glorify substance abuse;
    • Products that promote or glorify people who have been found guilty of violent or sexual crimes;
    • Products related to human tragedies and natural disasters;
    • Products that contain abuse or harassment towards individuals, including but not limited to violent threats, sexual harassment, or disparaging statements regarding appearance, intellect, personality traits, and hygiene;
    • Religious products where their offering for sale is likely to demean or disrespect any religion;
    • Books, audio, videos, documents, and materials that promote religious or racial discrimination; and
    • Any other materials that are prohibited by local laws and regulations from being published or sold.

3.8. Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia (Prohibited)

  • All illegal drugs and narcotics and related paraphernalia are prohibited for sale on TikTok Shop. These include but are not limited to:
    • Illegal drugs, chemicals, and raw materials;
    • Products containing illegal drugs or narcotics;
    • Narcotics, steroids, and other drugs prohibited by law or regulation;
    • Any substance capable of producing psychoactive effects and/or considered as "legal highs";
    • Nitrous Oxide;
    • Any chemicals, ingredients, or raw materials used in the manufacture of drugs. These include but are not limited to marijuana, opium and poppy seeds; and
    • Drug paraphernalia, such as products primarily intended for making, preparing, or consuming "controlled substances." These include but are not limited to bongs, glass pipes, grinders, and vaporizers designed for drug use.

3.9. Financial Products and Services (Prohibited)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Circulating coins or paper money that have legal tender status in any country;
    • Cash-equivalent gift cards and other financial products;
    • Credit card readers and terminals;
    • Cryptocurrency, NFT's and/or any digital currency;
    • Any type of digital coins;
    • Money orders, gold certificates, or silver certificates;
    • Gold, silver, and other precious metal bullion;
    • Stocks and securities;
    • Money orders, travellers' cheques, and other stored value instruments;
    • Coupons, certificates, electronic stored value redemption codes and similar items;
    • Replica or counterfeit coins, stamps, or paper money, including banknotes, bond certificates, or other derivatives;
    • Equipment designed to manufacture or support the production of the same or which could potentially be modified for similar use;
    • Equipment or material designed to produce or enable the production of counterfeit coins, stamps, paper money or virtual currency;
    • Services related to, or which may facilitate, money laundering; and
    • Other financial products and services, including the provision of funds, insurance, loans, money transfers or other financial management services.

3.10. Firearms,

Ammunition and Weapons (Prohibited)
  • All weapons, arms, explosives and other items designed to cause harm to individuals or which could potentially be modified for similar use. These include but are not limited to:
    • Replicas, component materials/parts and associated accessories like ammunition and instructional manuals;
    • Guns, pistols, rifles, automatic weapons, military ordnance, sport, and hunting guns (such as harpoons or spearguns);
    • Antique, and other firearms such as BB guns, paintball guns, airsoft guns, tear gas guns, cap guns, spear guns and simulation / metal guns (including toy guns equipped to shoot objects);
    • Deactivated firearms and weapons designed to fire blanks (such as starting pistols);
    • All associated parts, kits, components, and accessories for firearms. This includes inside accessories including, but not limited to, bullets, magazines, barrels, weapon conversion kits, and firing pins;
    • Outside accessories, including but not limited to silencers, gunstocks, bolts, fire control groups, and trigger groups;
    • Knives and other bladed products (regardless of size). This includes switchblades, flick knives, gravity knives, daggers, machetes, zombie knives, disguised knives, butterfly knives, slasher knives, swords or any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed and which is made or adapted for use for causing injury;
    • Military weaponry, explosives, and grenades;
    • Stun guns and tasers;
    • Batons and telescopic truncheons;
    • Tear gas, pepper spray, and mace;
    • Brass knuckles, knuckledusters, foot claws, and nunchucks;
    • Crossbows, bows and arrows, slingshots, catapults, and any other assault weapons;
    • Other items that are designed to cause harm to individuals or may have the potential to be modified as weapons;
    • Other items, materials, or components that may be used to build firearms, ammunition, or weapons; and
    • Any related tutorials or books with instructions for making firearms, ammunition and weapons.

3.11. Chilled, Fresh and Frozen Food (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Processed meat & seafood;
    • Prepared meals;
    • Vegetables;
    • Pastries;
    • Frozen Food;
    • Ice Cream;

3.12. Gambling (Prohibited)

  • Gambling-related products, services and accessories. These include, but are not limited to:
    • Roulette and entry to roulette games;
    • Slots, bandits, and fruit machines;
    • Lottery tickets;
    • Raffle tickets;
    • Sweepstakes;
    • Instant win tickets and scratch cards;
    • Claw machine and claw machine entry;
    • Entry to games involving oyster opening;
    • Betting or pool betting;
    • Card gambling games (e.g. Poker, Blackjack);
    • Sport gambling (e.g. football betting, trading cards); and
    • Dice gambling.

3.13. Hazardous and Dangerous Items (Prohibited)

  • Items that pose a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment. These include, but are not limited to: materials which are corrosive, explosive, radioactive, toxic, or otherwise hazardous; any other harmful substances as listed in the EU REACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006); any substances and compounds which are prohibited by any other applicable law or regulation or require specific approvals for use; and products that are indicated as unsafe by the local authorities where the product will be sold. Examples include, but are not limited to:
    • Lighters which are likely to appeal to children (e.g. novelty lighters);
    • Pesticides (plant protection products);
    • Products recalled by manufacturers or governmental, national or international agencies;
    • Radioactive materials and equipment to process radioactive materials;
    • Explosive materials and equipment to process explosive materials, including gases (e.g. hydrogen or petroleum gas), fuses, precursor materials, black powder and other similar substances and products;
    • Pressure equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, gas cylinders including but not limited to Carbon Dioxide/CO2 cannisters);
    • Fireworks, including firecrackers, roman candles, sparklers, skyrockets, aerial bombs or shells and fountains;
    • Toxic substances and hazardous chemical items, including poisons and carcinogenic substances;
    • Any chemical substances and compounds which are prohibited by law or regulation, or require specific approvals for use;
    • Any chemical substance or compound that is intended for commercial, industrial or professional use only, and is not available for general consumer purchase;
    • Chemical biocides and insecticides;
    • Liquid mercury and products containing mercury, such as thermometers;
    • Products which contain large quantities of magnetic balls or cubes, including nanodots, buckyballs, magnet balls and similar products;
    • Hazardous materials ineligible for transportation or handling;
    • Other hazardous materials or dangerous goods which represent a threat to the safety or security of customers, facilities or the environment (e.g. extreme sports equipment such as skydiving kits);
    • Any related tutorials or books which contain instructions for making hazardous or dangerous items;
    • Nose/ear/body piercing tools or guns;
    • All types of tattoo supplies;
    • Power tools; and
    • High-powered laser pointers.

3.14. Home Improvement Products/Services (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Garden buildings (e.g. pergolas, gazebos);
    • Roofing, and flooring products;
    • Work safety equipment; and
    • Raw construction materials (e.g. cement, wood, metal, bamboo).

3.15. Human Body Parts and Remains (Prohibited)

  • Human body parts, bodily fluids, human body products and human remains. These include but are not limited to:
    • Sperm;
    • Egg cells;
    • Fertilized eggs;
    • Embryos; and
    • Surrogacy or intermediary services (buying and selling sperm, fertilized eggs, embryos or surrogacy).

3.16. Ingredients or Substances (Prohibited)

  • Certain product ingredients or substances are prohibited from sale in the EU and our TikTok Shop platform. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Triclosan, 5-Bromo-5-Nitro-1,3-Dioxane, DMDM hydantoin, sodium butylparaben, di(N-hexyl) phthalate, Dioctyl Phthalate, Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, Butyl benzyl phthalate
    • Melanotan/Melanotan II
  • TikTok Shop also prohibits ingredients or substances that are not suitable for human consumption . This includes but is not limited to:
    • SARMs
    • 1,3-dimethylamylamine (DMAA)
    • Dimethylhexylamine (DMHA)
    • Higenamine
    • BMPEA
    • β-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA)
    • N,β-dimethylphenethylamine (N-BDMA)
  • Note: sellers are responsible for ensuring their products meet all applicable laws and regulations regarding the sale of ingredients or substances in their products.

3.17. Watches and Accessories (Unsupported)

  • The following watches and accessories are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop:
    • Pre-owned watches and their accessories; and
    • Luxury watches that exceed a value of €500 per product.

3.18. Media Products (Unsupported)

  • Certain media products are currently unsupported on TikTok Shop. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Play scripts;
    • Broadcast media;
    • Any type of streaming media;
    • Print media, any type of signup/subscription media.
    • Digital media, apps, websites, blogs.
    • Digital downloads of books, magazines, newspapers, music, videos

3.19. Medicines and Medical Devices (Unsupported)

  • This includes but is not limited to:
    • All medicines, including over-the-counter medicines, and those which require prescription;
    • Any other products which may only be sold in pharmacies;
    • Products intended for humans and animals, and products that claim to have medical benefits, including but not limited to:
      • Consumable CBD products;
      • Licensed medicines (including prescription only);
      • Unlicensed/unauthorised medicines (e.g. US medicines);
      • Over the counter medicines;
      • Homeopathic/herbal medicines and medicinal plant preparations;
      • Products making prohibited health/medicinal claims;
      • Infant formula, foods for special medical purposes;
      • Dietary supplements (including tainted supplements) such as anabolic steroids, chitosan, comfrey, dehydroepiandrosterone, ephedra, and human growth hormones;
      • Weight loss products; and
      • Nasal/oral tanning sprays and/or drops.
    • Medical devices:
      • Authorised medical devices, including those which are intended for professional or amateur-use; and
      • Unauthorised medical devices (e.g. anti-choking devices, and "Zappers").
    • Lens solutions and contact lenses;
    • Eye and eardrops;
    • Feminine care products (e.g. vaginal cream);
    • Instruments, apparatuses, appliances, software, material or other articles intended to be used alone, or in combination with other products, for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes. Examples include reading glasses, thermometers, PPE/medical masks, hearing aids, scalpels, nebulizers, blood pressure meters, health monitors, pregnancy tests, test kits including HIV or Covid-19 test kits, paternity testing, foetal testing, first aid supplies, braces, supports, wheelchairs and other similar products and services;
    • Pain relief, digestion & nausea, allergies, sinus & asthma, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea care medication; and
    • Injectable Botulinum toxin or similar substances (for example, Botox), injectable dermal fillers, and other substances intended to be used for facial or other dermal or mucous membrane filling by injection.

3.20. Official Government/Military Items and Other Restricted Equipment (Prohibited)

  • Official government, law enforcement and military-issued items, and all other items whose use, production or sale is controlled or restricted by law for similar reasons, including dual use (civilian and military use) items and replicas that enable the impersonation of government, law enforcement or military personnel, systems or organisations. Examples include but are not limited to:
    • Items or equipment issued to the government, police or military, including uniforms, signs, registration or identity documents;
    • Items or equipment intended to allow the impersonation of government, police or military personnel;
    • Government-issued certificates and documentation;
    • Official emergency lighting systems or sirens;
    • Mobile phone repeaters and signal boosters;
    • Odometer modification devices;
    • Products to evade or impair traffic safety laws and requirements; and
    • Replicas of any of the above that enable the impersonation of government, law enforcement or military personnel, systems or organisations.

3.21. Political Products (Unsupported)

  • Political products are products that contain or refer to political elements. Products are considered political if they are:
    • Related to a politician, political party, or political figure;
    • Related to campaigns or elections;
    • Related to referendums;
    • Related to political issues of public debate, including wars and geopolitical conflicts; and
    • Advocating for or against a politician or a political party.

3.22. Protected Wildlife and Plants (Prohibited)

  • Plant species that are protected or prohibited from sale by applicable laws and regulations, or harmful to health, and/or the environment. These include but are not limited to:
    • Noxious plants, plant material, and seeds;
    • Aquatic resources that are banned from exploitation;
    • Aquatic products that contain toxic or hazardous substances that exceed permitted legal limits;
    • Products that contain plants or other wildlife protected by local law and regulations;
    • Aquatic products with natural toxins that are dangerous to human life;
    • Livestock breeds that are not permitted by law for production and trading;
    • Livestock breeds that are harmful to human health, the environment, the ecosystem, and livestock gene sources;
    • Plant varieties that are not permitted by law for production and trading;
  • Live plants and flowers are unsupported.

3.23. Realistic Dolls (Unsupported)

  • Realistic dolls modelled after infants, children and teenagers are not permitted for sale on TikTok Shop.

3.24. Rough Diamonds (Prohibited)

  • All rough diamonds are prohibited from sale on TikTok Shop.

3.25. Security and Privacy Products (Prohibited)

  • Any goods that infringe or may infringe on personal privacy. These include but are not limited to:
    • Access to, or materials containing, personal information including phone numbers, email addresses, identity cards, passports or social security cards and driving license;
    • Software or products used to collect or steal personal data, institutional data, or private/confidential information;
    • Computer viruses or hacking software that:
      • Can (or claim to) compromise personal data (including but not limited to personal mobile phone locations, personal resumes or personal consumption records); and
      • Can (or claim to) compromise internal corporate data (including but not limited to telephone list queries or bank account queries, internal corporate culture publicity materials, internal communication materials of industry associations, internal communication materials of professional organizations or books issued internally).
    • Hidden or disguised photographic devices;
    • Lock-picking tools;
    • Hacking devices/software;
    • Security tag removal devices;
    • Skeleton keys (such as RADAR keys);
    • Products designed to intentionally block, jam or interfere with licensed or authorized radio communications, such as phones, GPS, radars, etc;
    • Prohibited spy devices, such as everyday objects, capable of recording image or sound files and transmit them wirelessly;
    • Odometer modification devices;
    • Products that descramble, or gain access to, cable or satellite television without permission;
    • Car-key cloning devices; and
    • Any other items that may infringe upon, or enable the infringement of an individual's privacy, including products designed or, that could potentially be modified, to infringe on a person's privacy or access their personal information without permission.

3.26. Services (Prohibited & Unsupported)

  • Prohibited services include but are not limited to:
    • Services to provide or facilitate falsified documents, certificates, official seals or anti-counterfeiting labels, including identification documents, passports, immigration papers, driving licences, degree certificates and business licences;
    • Services to act as agents for customs declarations or commodity inspections;
    • Services that provide examination answers, exam-taking services, and ghost-writing services; and
    • Multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes.
  • Unsupported services include but are not limited to:
    • Any type of job promotion;
    • Travel services;
    • Construction services;
    • Lawn care and gardening;
    • Electrician services;
    • Plumbing and cleaning services;
    • Automotive services;
    • Recycling services;
    • Fitness guidance, massages or spas;
    • Veterinary or animal-related services;
    • Show, theatre, cinema, or events tickets;
    • Shares and securities; and
    • Real estate.

3.27. Single Use Plastics (Prohibited)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Single-use plastic straws;
    • Cotton buds;
    • Cutlery;
    • Drink stirrers;
    • Certain food containers and bottles made of expanded polystyrene;
    • Products made from oxo-degradable plastic;
    • Confetti; and
    • Non-biodegradable plastic tea bags.

3.28. Timber (Prohibited)

  • Illegally harvested timber and products derived from such timber.
  • These include but are not limited to:
    • E-cigarettes and all accessories and paraphenalia, including e-liquids;
    • Tobacco, or any product that contains tobacco, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, dipping tobacco, chewing tobacco, tobacco pipes, vaporizer devices, electronic cigarettes, or similar devices and their refill cartridges or liquids, and all accessories and paraphenalia;
    • Smokeless tobacco products;
    • Shisha or hookah products; and
    • Smoking apparatus, including pipes and rolling papers.

3.30. Vehicles and Automotive Parts (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Cars, motorcycles and motorbikes;
    • Parts or components of automotive vehicles such as brakes, engines, tyres, rims, car lighting, fuel, meter devices, seats, oil filters, and more; and
    • Car fire extinguishers.

3.31. Veterinary Products (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • All veterinary products and devices; and
    • Animal medicines and/or medicated feed.

3.32. Virtual Products (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Memberships, services, warranties, or subscriptions;
    • Other products such as rechargeable cards;
    • Online game products such as game currency, game recharge, game account products, game assistance cards;
    • Any service that claims to increase online traffic; and
    • Any service that claims to assist users with access to platform tools or portals.

3.33. Weight Loss Products and Supplements (Unsupported)

  • These include but are not limited to:
    • Supplements that contain undeclared ingredients or ingredients prohibited by law;
    • Body-building supplements that contain undeclared ingredients or ingredients prohibited by law;
    • Products or supplements that stimulate human growth or breast enlargement; and
    • Products or supplements that claim to be effective for fat loss.
