What is the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)?

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) mandates safety standards for non-food consumer products in the EU. All businesses in the EU must comply with GPSR requirements. This has been effective since 13 December 2024.

Which Product Categories Are Subject to the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)?

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) applies to most non-food consumer products sold in the EU. Exceptions include medicinal products, beverages, live plants and animals.
📍For more information on food product compliance, refer to the Food Information to Consumers (FIC) regulation.

Key Information Required for General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)

Sellers must provide the required compliance information as per local laws. All information and documentation should be submitted in the market's official language to prevent the product listing from being rejected:

Responsible Person

A Responsible Person based in the EU must be designated for non-food products. This individual acts as the point of contact for customers and regulatory bodies regarding product safety matters. Their contact information must be displayed on the product label in a language easily understood by consumers, as required by the Member State where the product is sold.
📍 Required Information: Name, Registered Trade Name (if applicable), Address, Telephone Number, and Email Address.

Manufacturer Information

The product must be labelled with the manufacturer’s contact details and, if applicable, the importer’s information. This information must be clearly visible on both the product and its online listing.
📍 Required Information: Name, Address, Telephone Number, and Email Address.

Labelling

  • Include all required warnings and safety information on both the product and the online listing.
  • Choose the appropriate label names, which may vary by product category (e.g., for toys, the label name will be "Toy Label")
  • Confirm the relevant details by uploading photos or selecting the appropriate checkboxes

Where can sellers provide the required information in the Seller Center?

  • Log in to Seller Center and navigate to "Add new Product" on the Manage Product page.
  • Select the correct product to ensure you can provide the required information for that specific product type. Fill out the details in the Product Compliance section.
🚨Important: A photo of the label alone is not accepted. The label must be clearly visible and attached to the package.

The cosmetics image should include relevant usage precautions, warning signs, an ingredient list, and the expiration date.
